It Started With A Chat
Thursday 17th March 2011, 9.30-4.30, University of Loughborough – For those on the Enterprise Inc. programme
Developing a successful business means building working relationships and we are often told that ‘networking’ is an important part of business practice. But what exactly is ‘networking’ and how can you prepare to make the best of it? This interactive workshop aims to untangle some of the misconceptions that sometimes surround the concept of ‘networking’ and to offer practical content and exercises that will help you to use networking in a positive way to develop your business.
By the end of the workshop, you will be able to:
- Define what ‘networking’ means and how it can contribute to your business
- Evaluate your own network and identify where and how it could usefully be expanded
- Put into practice some ways of expanding your network and broaden your circle of contacts
- Identify and evaluate networking events and opportunities
- Practice skills used by other professionals to get people talking, create rapport and communicate in ways people enjoy
- Develop tools to organise and support your networking, including integrating your online and face-to-face networking.
This seminar is open to graduate business startups on the Enterprise Inc programme.
